Heatwave warnings remain in effect across most of the country today, Thursday (July 30).

Extreme heat is expected to grip the region, with maximum daytime temperatures soaring up to 39°C (102°F) as serious heatwave alerts have been issued for parts of Gyeongnam, including Busan, Yangsan, and Changwon.

Today, the maximum perceived temperature will exceed 33°C (91°F) in most parts of the country and surpass 35°C (95°F) in the southern provinces, making conditions extremely sweltering.

Today's highest daytime temperatures are forecast to reach 39°C (102°F) in Busan, 37°C (99°F) in Gangneung, and 34°C (93°F) in Seoul, Daejeon, and Gwangju.

The Korea Meteorological Administration urged the public to take special precautions against heat-related illnesses, such as avoiding outdoor activities during midday, noting that the heatwaves and tropical nights will persist until next week.
