The Kiwoom Heroes secured a victory against the LG Twins after a high-scoring slugfest that saw a combined 40 hits and 29 runs.

Kiwoom claimed an 18-11 win over LG in their away game of the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League regular season at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul.

Avenging their loss from the previous day, the league-bottom Kiwoom maintained stable performance by avoiding consecutive losses throughout the second half of the season.

Kiwoom's record in the second half stands at 7 wins, 1 draw, and 4 losses.

On the other hand, the third-placed LG suffered a mound collapse, allowing 23 hits and nearly tying the club record for most hits allowed in a single game.

LG's record for the most hits allowed in a single game is 24, conceded during a game against the Samsung Lions at Jamsil on May 10, 1986, back when the team was known as the MBC Blue Dragons, and another game against Samsung in Daegu in 1997.

LG started the game on a high note in the bottom of the first inning when Austin Dean hit a three-run home run, his 30th of the season.

Austin became the 9th player in KBO League history, and the 3rd foreign player, to hit 30 home runs in 3 consecutive seasons.

However, Kiwoom turned the game around to 4-3 by combining a two-run homer by Lee Hyung-jong and an RBI single by Matt Davidson in the top of the second inning, followed by a solo home run by Kim Gun-hee in the top of the third.

Trailing 3-5, LG flipped the game in the bottom of the fourth by scoring 4 runs, but Kiwoom crushed their opponent's momentum in the top of the fifth by plating 9 runs with 7 hits, 3 walks, and 1 hit-by-pitch.

Kiwoom then added 2 runs each in the top of the sixth and seventh innings to secure the win.

Kiwoom's Seo Geon-chang recorded 5 hits in 6 at-bats with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored, marking the second 5-hit game of his career.

Kiwoom's 18 runs and 23 hits on this day both marked team highs for this season.

Additionally, Kiwoom achieved a feat where all starting players scored and reached base, marking the 6th such instance in the league this season and the first for Kiwoom.

LG's offense also exploded with 17 hits and 11 runs, but they could not avoid defeat due to their collapsing pitching staff.
