Visiting Brazil, President Lee Jae-myung proposed that South Korean and Brazilian business leaders achieve joint results in three major sectors: aviation, minerals, and K-beauty. President Lee also visited the metalworkers' union office where Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva worked in his youth.

At the South Korea-Brazil business forum held in São Paulo, Brazil's economic capital.

With dozens of business leaders from both countries in attendance, including Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung, POSCO Chairman Chang In-hwa, and Korean Air Chairman Cho Won-tae, President Lee Jae-myung stated that the two nations can generate synergy by leveraging each other's strengths.

[President Lee Jae-myung : If South Korea's unrivaled innovative technology and manufacturing capabilities combine with Brazil's abundant resources, our two countries can leap forward into optimal partners.]

He also highlighted the joint development of next-generation commercial aircraft, critical minerals such as rare earths, and K-beauty as core areas of cooperation.

Seven business-to-business MOUs were signed, including an agreement for Korea Aerospace Industries to supply parts to Embraer—the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer that also supplies transport aircraft to the South Korean Air Force—and for POSCO to secure a stable supply of rare earths for permanent magnets.

Kim Yong-beom, Chief of Policy for the Presidential Office, conveyed that Brazilian President Lula suggested doubling the bilateral trade volume—which stood at around 14.3 billion dollars last year—within two years.

After touring the São Paulo metalworkers' union office where President Lula worked in his youth, President Lee wrote on social media, "Creating a world that respects labor is no different in Brazil than it is in the Republic of Korea."

Having completed all of his state visit schedules in Brazil, President Lee Jae-myung is now heading to Chile, the second stop on his South American tour.
