Iran's state-run IRIB broadcaster reported that the U.S. military carried out an airstrike on a northwestern border city near Iraq on the local date of Tuesday (July 29), according to local time.

The broadcaster stated, "Minutes ago, the border area of Piranshahr was subjected to an airstrike by the U.S. enemy forces."

An official in West Azerbaijan Province stated, "Enemy missiles landed in an uninhabited, unpopulated area, resulting in no casualties."

Earlier, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced, "In response to the aggressive actions of the U.S. military, we struck a U.S. air base and central command post in Jordan with several ballistic missiles."

However, the statement did not specify what the U.S. "aggressive actions" were.

The Jordanian military also announced in a statement that it had intercepted five ballistic missiles launched from Iran on the same day.
