The Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB) have achieved a rare feat by scoring in every single inning while securing a shutout victory.

Playing their home game against the Baltimore Orioles at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan, on July 29 (KST), the Tigers triumphed 14-0 after pushing runs across the plate in every inning from the 1st through the 8th.

According to MLB.com, this marks only the second time in MLB history since 1900 that a team has scored in every offensive inning while holding the opponent scoreless.

This also represents a milestone achieved approximately 91 years after the Pittsburgh Pirates last accomplished the feat against the Brooklyn Dodgers on September 7, 1935.

After breaking the scoreless tie in the bottom of the 1st inning with two outs and runners on first and second, Colt Keith drove in the opening run with a triple to right-center, and Detroit continued to score without missing a single frame.

Kevin McGonigle, starting as the leadoff hitter and shortstop, put on a stellar performance with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 1 RBI, and 4 runs scored, while Eduardo Valencia, batting ninth as the catcher, went 4 for 5 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

The Detroit offense pounded out 19 hits on the day, while starting pitcher Troy Melton silenced the opposing lineup with 7 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5, and Tyler Madden closed out the game with 2 hitless, walkless frames and 2 strikeouts.

Detroit currently sits in fourth place in the American League Central division this season.
