The Gongju Police Station in South Chungcheong Province announced today (July 29) that it has sought an arrest warrant for a man in his 60s, designated as A, on charges of nighttime burglary and larceny for breaking into a photo studio and stealing valuables.

A is accused of breaking the locks and windows of a photo studio in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province, with a cutting tool at 1:44 AM on the 10th, entering the premises, and fleeing with 12.5 million won worth of valuables, including high-end cameras, lenses, and cash.

Tracing A's escape route, police arrested him near his home in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, at 12:50 PM on the 27th.

Investigations revealed that A tried to evade police pursuit even during his flight by changing clothes in CCTV blind spots and deliberately moving through public facilities such as Korean saunas.

A, who has no particular ties to Gongju, reportedly told police that he committed the crime to secure living expenses.

It was revealed that he was already under investigation without detention after being caught by police for theft in Seoul about two months ago.

Police are investigating potential additional crimes, suspecting that A may have committed similar offenses while traveling across the country.
