Scorching heat waves are sweeping the country.

Heat wave warnings have also been issued for parts of Seoul.

Today (July 29), the apparent temperature in Seoul is expected to reach 36°C, while Changnyeong, which is under a heavy heat wave warning, will see apparent temperatures soar to as high as 38°C.

As a high-pressure system creates a heat dome over the Korean Peninsula, the extreme heat is expected to persist for the time being.

With the high probability of heat-related illnesses, it is advised to avoid outdoor activities as much as possible during the daytime.

As the prolonged heat continues, extra care must be taken to manage health.

Strong sunlight will beat down in various places during the day, driving the ultraviolet index up to very high levels.

Mainly centered around the Yeongnam region, ozone concentrations, which are harmful to the respiratory system, will run high.

For the time being, generally clear skies will continue without any significant forecasts for rain.

The relentless heat, day and night, is expected to continue for a long time.
