Set to play in the All-Star game for the first time since his professional debut, Son Heung-min drew attention with an unexpected happening ahead of the first training session held in Charlotte, the battleground.
The curiosity of the press was sparked when Germany's living legend Muller received soccer shoes of the exact same model as Son's from an LA FC official.
Muller clarified that he didn't borrow the soccer shoes from Son, but acknowledged their special bond.
[Thomas Muller / Vancouver Midfielder: They aren't Son's shoes, they are my shoes. But I have a good relationship with Son. Because Son speaks German well and played in Germany for a long time.]
He then singled out Son as the player he had been looking forward to playing alongside.
[Thomas Muller / Vancouver Midfielder: Son has always been great, and maybe he could have joined Bayern Munich and played with me. It will be a lot of fun playing with Son.]
While local media outlets focused heavily on the two legends who once lit up Europe,
[Son Heung-min / LA FC Forward: (Best moment of your career?) Winning the Europa League! (Hobby outside of football?) Golf. (Average score?) I cannot tell you.]
Today, as the eve of the event takes place, Son and Muller will compete side by side in the Skills Challenge.
