A speechwriting aide to U.S. President Donald Trump, who faced investigations over insider trading allegations after making a fortune through U.S. prediction market bets, has ultimately resigned from the White House, U.S. political outlet Politico reported on the 28th local time.

The outlet reported that a White House official stated that Gabriel Perez, Deputy Assistant to the President and Technology Advisor who faced such allegations, no longer works for the federal government.

However, the official did not disclose whether Perez voluntarily resigned or was fired.

Perez was responsible for operating the teleprompter during President Trump's speeches and has assisted President Trump since the 2016 presidential election.

He was one of a small group of aides with advance access to the final version of presidential speeches, and was accused of leveraging this to place bets on "mention markets" on the prediction market platform Kalshi.

Mention markets are platforms where participants bet on predicting specific words or phrases that high-ranking officials or public figures, such as President Trump, will use.

Perez reportedly earned around 100,000 dollars, approximately 150 million won, on Kalshi.

Previously, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated in a briefing on the 16th, "This is deeply regrettable and frankly shameful," adding that Perez had been placed on unpaid leave following President Trump's decision.
