Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met face-to-face in Washington, D.C., for the first time in three years, the Israeli daily The Times of Israel reported on the 28th, local time.

Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Zelensky, who held back-to-back summits with U.S. President Donald Trump on this day, greeted and spoke with each other ahead of a subsequent memorial service for U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham.

The conversation between the two leaders appeared both serious and cordial, with smiles on their faces as they shook hands.

This marked their first conversation since January 2025 and their first face-to-face meeting in about three years, since September 2023.

The two leaders also explored the possibility of holding an official meeting in Washington on this day, but the meeting ultimately did not materialize.

Earlier, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha also met and talked in Washington.

Minister Sa'ar stated, "We discussed various challenges facing both countries, including the threat from Iran."

Iran recently criticized Ukraine for attacking its commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea and has threatened retaliation.
