The aftershocks of a magnitude 7.1 earthquake that struck Kumamoto Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan, were felt in Jeju today (July 28).

According to the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Fire and Safety Headquarters, one earthquake-related report had been received as of 4:40 PM today.

Fortunately, it was confirmed that there have been no dispatch cases for human injuries or property damage so far.

It was reported that the shaking was felt mainly in high-rise buildings across the Jeju region at the time of the earthquake.

Online communities, such as mom cafes, saw a flurry of posts from residents expressing anxiety, with comments such as, "I live on the 12th floor of an apartment complex in Nohyeong-dong, Jeju. I felt something shaking, is it just my imagination?", "I lay down on the bed for a moment, and the bed shook from side to side, making me dizzy", "I live on the 15th floor, and since it is a high-rise apartment, it must have swayed more", "The lights were swinging back and forth in Ara-dong, Jeju-si", and "Seogwipo-si shook as well."
