Regarding the ruling People Power Party's Central Ethics Committee initiating disciplinary procedures against him on the grounds that he supported independent Representative Han Dong-hoon in the June 3 National Assembly by-election, Representative Jin Jong-oh stated, "What the People Power Party needs is the recovery of public sentiment, not intimidating disciplinary politics aimed at private party control."

Through social media today (the 28th), Representative Jin stated, "If walking toward the public sentiment for the reconstruction of conservatism is a crime, I will gladly accept that punishment," while adding, "However, if it is disciplinary action for groundless private party control, I will firmly resist."

He also noted, "There has never been a power that defeated public sentiment through disciplinary politics," and "The public does not cast ballots for a party that turns its swords inward."

Nevertheless, Representative Jin added, "Despite this, I will sufficiently explain the circumstances and intent at the time during the ethics committee procedures," and "The evaluation will be made by the public and party members, not them."

Previously, the ethics committee held a full meeting yesterday and decided to initiate disciplinary procedures against three incumbent lawmakers: six-term Representative Joo Kyung-taug, two-term Representative Kwon Young-jin, and Representative Jin.
