A man has been captured by police on charges of wielding a weapon and killing an acquaintance.

Seoul Gangbuk Police Station announced that it has urgently arrested a man in his 50s, identified as A, on murder charges and is currently investigating him.

Suspect A was apprehended by police at around 1:40 a.m. today (July 28) on charges of wielding a weapon against a woman in her 50s, identified as B, and killing her at an officetel in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu.

It was confirmed that A was caught inside the officetel building where the crime took place.

A police official stated, "There is no history of a romantic relationship or stalking circumstances between A and B," adding, "Because A is refusing to speak about the crime, the specific relationship needs to be ascertained."

Police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for A on murder charges while investigating the exact details of the crime.
