Earlier, on the 18th, a crocodile was captured in Soyang Stream in Yeoju.
This crocodile is a Siamese crocodile, a Class 1 internationally endangered species.
It was transferred to the National Institute of Ecology.
While conducting investigative inquiries to determine whether the crocodile was abandoned or had an owner, the police identified an individual in their 30s, surnamed A.
And on the 26th, they apprehended A at their residence.
At the time of the apprehension, an additional wild animal presumed to be an alligator snapping turtle was also discovered at the residence.
During police questioning, A stated that they bought the Siamese crocodile from an internet cafe for 1.2 million won three years ago.
Regarding the suspicions of abandonment, A denied the charges, stating, "It disappeared about two weeks ago when I put it out in the yard to sunbathe."
The police plan to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding A while expanding their investigation to track down the seller.
