U.S. President Donald Trump said that negotiations are underway with Iran and that there is a possibility of reaching an agreement, while warning that he will resort to very powerful military action if the talks fall through.

Speaking to reporters in a Q&A session aboard Air Force One while traveling for a schedule in Michigan on the 27th (local time), President Trump said, "Iran wanted to meet, and we are meeting," adding, "We'll see what happens."

"Iran has requested meetings both through proxies and directly, and we are holding talks," Trump stated, adding, "There's a possibility of a deal. Good things could happen."

"I think there's a good chance that something will happen, and if it does, that's a good thing, and if not, we can just go back to doing what we were doing up until two days ago," he said.

He also remarked, "The only reason Iran wants to meet with the United States is because we hit them very hard."

Asked how much patience he has, Trump replied, "We have plenty of time."

The United States suspended its airstrikes against Iran on the 24th after continuing them for 13 consecutive days in response to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. military bases in the Middle East.

The U.S. and Iran have been continuing negotiations through intermediaries and other channels regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the resumption of nuclear talks.

Regarding analyses by U.S. media outlets that America's ammunition stockpiles have run low due to the wars in Ukraine and Iran, President Trump said, "We have plenty of ammunition of various kinds."

However, he explained, "Because Biden provided a large amount to Ukraine, we are replenishing our inventories."


"Our contractors are currently operating four to five factories each, and the situation is very good," Trump said, adding, "As for more sophisticated equipment, we certainly want to secure more."

Asked, a day ahead of his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whether there are any differences between the two sides regarding the war with Iran, Trump said, "There are minor differences, but we are quite aligned."

He also noted regarding Prime Minister Netanyahu, "He is a wartime prime minister, and we have done a very good job together," adding, "If you look at Iran now, they are at about 8 percent of what they were four months ago."

While President Trump did not explain what specifically stood at 8 percent compared to four months ago, it is interpreted to mean that Iran's overall military capability has plummeted since before the outbreak of the war.

Regarding suspicions that Russia has been providing Iran with satellite imagery of U.S. military bases in the Gulf region to help Tehran select targets, Trump said, "We'll find out soon," and stated that he would ask Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Earlier, in an interview with Axios, President Trump also said, "We are in very deep negotiations with Iran," and warned, "If the negotiations do not bear fruit, we will return to very powerful military action."
