As the monsoon season wrapped up last weekend, intense heat has officially taken over.

Heatwave warnings and advisories are currently in effect for most parts of the country. In particular, the newly established "Severe Heatwave Warning" has been issued for the Yeongnam region.

Daytime temperatures in these areas are expected to approach 40°C (104°F) again today.

Residents are advised to refrain from going outside as much as possible.

Seoul has also been under a heatwave advisory for six consecutive days.

The daytime high in Seoul is expected to reach 33°C (91°F), and with high humidity, the perceived temperature will be even higher.

The heat accumulated during the day will persist overnight, leading to tropical nights.

Meanwhile, some areas in the central region and North Gyeongsang Province will experience occasional showers today.

However, as these showers will be brief, they will not provide much relief from the heat.

Scorching heat, both day and night, is expected to continue for the time being.
