President Lee Jae-myung, currently on a tour of the United States and South America, has described the San Francisco AI Declaration as a national commitment for AI cooperation. President Lee will hold a summit with Brazilian President Lula shortly.

An honor guard greets President Lee Jae-myung, who is on a state visit to Brazil, with trumpet performances.

President Lee, who also inspected the Brazilian-made transport aircraft purchased by the South Korean Air Force, connected via video link to the presidential office this morning (July 27) to address pending issues such as high oil prices.

[President Lee Jae-myung: Please maintain the ceiling price system for petroleum until the instability of oil prices is completely resolved, and keep policy measures such as fuel tax cuts in place to the maximum extent possible.]

He also conducted a mid-term review of his tour's achievements.

Evaluating the "San Francisco AI Declaration" announced the day before yesterday as a national commitment for South Korea to leap forward as a leader in the AI era, President Lee stated that achievements such as cooperation between South Korean companies and global big tech must be connected to the lives of the citizens.

[President Lee Jae-myung: Please make thorough preparations for follow-up measures so that they can lead to a greater leap forward for our economy and a substantial improvement in the lives of the people.]

Visiting South America for the first time since taking office, President Lee emphasized the importance of supply chain cooperation with Brazil, which ranks second in the world in rare earth reserves.

[President Lee Jae-myung: South America is a region with a massive population and abundant resources, making it one of the most essential areas for further expanding the horizons of our diplomacy.]

President Lee will hold a summit with Brazilian President Lula shortly.

During President Lula's state visit to South Korea last February, President Lee presented him with a copy of "A Single Spark: The Biography of Jeon Tae-il".

As the two leaders have shared mutual rapport on various international stages based on their shared backgrounds as former child laborers, in-depth discussions on bilateral cooperation are expected.
