Hong Su-hyun (Gangwon State Office) has won a silver medal at the 2026 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Hangzhou.

Hong scored 240.1 points to finish second in the men's 10m air pistol individual final held in Hangzhou, China, yesterday (July 26).

Hong placed 9th in the qualifications with 583 points, but advanced to the finals after 4th-place Jaipal Maivya (India) was ineligible to compete in the final, allowing Hong to sneak into the top 8.

Maintaining a steady 2nd place from the early stages of the final with consistent shooting, he stood on the second step of the podium behind China's Bu Shuaihang, who scored 244.4 points.

The bronze medal went to Vladimir Svechnikov of Uzbekistan, who scored 217.6 points.

Having previously won a bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event with Kim Bo-mi on July 22, Hong added an individual medal to his tally and shared his thoughts, saying, "It was tough in the beginning, but I found my rhythm in the middle. My goal is to carry this good momentum into the Asian Games and the World Championships."

So Seung-seop (Seosan City Hall), who had raised expectations by finishing 2nd in the qualifications (587 points), finished the competition in 6th place in the final (155.5 points).

So stated, "My early scores were low due to nervousness. I will figure out how to manage myself with the goal of winning a gold medal at the Asian Games."

In the women's 10m air rifle individual event held the day before yesterday, Kwon Yu-na (Woori Bank) was disqualified during a random equipment inspection for failing to meet the stiffness standard for her shooting jacket.

The national team filed an appeal based on her previous World Cup clearance records and certification (green card), but it was dismissed.

With Hong's strong performance, South Korea recorded one silver medal and one bronze medal, placing 6th overall in the interim standings.
