As the rainy season ends and the heatwave intensifies, the heatwave disaster crisis alert has been raised to the "Serious" level.

This is the highest of the four heatwave crisis alert levels, and is issued when the highest daily perceived temperature of 35°C (95°F) or higher is expected to persist for three days or more in 40% of regions nationwide.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety raised the alert from the previous "Caution" level to "Serious" as of 3:00 PM today (July 27), and activated the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters—headed by the Minister of the Interior and Safety—to initiate a response.

The government urged citizens, "Please refrain from outdoor activities as much as possible during the daytime, and practice sufficient water intake and rest."
