It has been confirmed that Police Superintendent A, stationed at the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency who has been under internal inspection over allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse of personnel authority in the Gyeongnam region—often referred to as the "Geoje King"—submitted his resignation following SBS's reports.

According to SBS coverage, Superintendent A reportedly submitted his resignation over the weekend through his wife to his home agency, the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency, along with a message expressing that he was "sorry."

The National Police Agency stated that because a high-intensity internal inspection is currently underway, the resignation cannot be accepted until the inspection results and the level of disciplinary action are determined.

The National Police Agency has been intensively looking into the allegations of sexual misconduct and personnel abuse involving Superintendent A since earlier this month. It is also known to be examining the review-based and special promotion selection processes carried out at the Geoje Police Station in Gyeongnam over the past few years.
