Prime Minister Han Sung-sook stated today (the 27th), "The South Korean government will protect freedom and peace based on the firm South Korea-U.S. alliance and cooperation with UN allied nations."

Prime Minister Han made the remarks during her commemorative speech at the UN Forces Participation Day ceremony held at the KBS Hall in Yeouido today.

"When South Korea faced a critical crisis due to North Korea's invasion 76 years ago, the international community promptly united in the name of the United Nations," Prime Minister Han said, pledging, "South Korea will never forget this noble sacrifice."

She also vowed, "We will treat every single UN veteran with the utmost respect, expand exchanges with their descendants, and pass on our friendship with the UN allied nations to future generations."

"Today, the world is facing the spread of regional conflicts, uncertainty in the international order, and security competition surrounding advanced technologies," Prime Minister Han noted. "In times like these, the spirit of solidarity demonstrated by the international community during the Korean War shines even brighter and holds deeper meaning."

"While keeping the door open for dialogue, we will maintain a readiness posture that remains unshaken by any security threats," she emphasized. "At the same time, we will unite with the international community as a partner that safeguards global peace and prosperity."

"South Korea will brighten our shared future together in solidarity with the international community," she repeatedly vowed, adding, "We will take the lead in maintaining international peace and providing humanitarian assistance, taking a great step toward a future of freedom and prosperity alongside the international community."
