The Task Force for Enhancing Trust in Police Investigations, established to overhaul the police organization and overall investigation system, held its inaugural meeting today (the 27th) at the Korean National Police Agency in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.

Prior to the meeting, Kim Nam-jun, an attorney at Law Firm Simin who chairs the task force, met with reporters and said, "As relatively significant authority is granted to the police, we are likely to discuss measures for controlling investigations, enhancing efficiency, and protecting human rights."

"Today, we will discuss practical matters such as selecting topics and composing the committee," Kim added, asking for continued interest.

The task force was formed to improve the overall police investigation system and boost public trust in investigations.


External members participating include experts from academia and the legal sector, such as Yoon Dong-ho, a professor of law at Kookmin University; Chang Yoon-jung, an attorney at Jipyong LLC; Jeong Young-hoon, an attorney at Law Firm Jeongse; and Cho Soon-yeol, president of the Seoul Bar Association.

The police plan to transparently explain the discussions and outcomes from the task force to the public as much as possible.
