Today (July 27), the cool stream of water at Okgye Waterfall in Simcheon-myeon, Yeongdong-gun, North Chungcheong Province, is easing the sweltering heat.

According to Yeongdong-gun, the waterfall's stream has grown thicker and boasts a magnificent appearance following the monsoon season.

Nestled midway up Wolisan Mountain at an elevation of 551 meters, the waterfall stands 30 meters tall, making it the highest natural waterfall in the Chungcheong region.

It is also called "Bakyeon Waterfall" as it was frequently visited by Park Yeon, also known by his pen name Nangye, who is one of Korea's three greatest master musicians.

An official from Yeongdong-gun said, "The waterfall after the monsoon season is the most magnificent of the year, and with various gukak (traditional Korean music) tourism spots lined up nearby such as the Gukak Experience Village, Gukak Instrument Museum, Gukak Instrument Making Village, and Gukak cafes, it is a great place to look around after enjoying the cool stream of the waterfall."
