Drowning Accidents in Gapyeong and Yangju, Gyeonggi Province Result in 1 Dead, 1 Seriously Injured

Drowning accidents occurred at a stream in Gapyeong and a water park in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, leaving a man in his 60s dead and a man in his 40s seriously injured.

Fire authorities stated that a report was received at around 12:35 PM yesterday (July 26) stating that a man in his 60s, identified as A, had fallen into the water in Dodae-ri, Buk-myeon, Gapyeong-gun.

According to reports, Mr. A was drinking with acquaintances who had come to play in the water under a bridge when he fell into the stream, drifted about 2 meters, and was rescued by nearby citizens.

Mr. A, who was in cardiac arrest when firefighters arrived at the scene, was transported to a hospital while receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but ultimately died.

Earlier yesterday, at around 9:35 AM, a man in his 40s, identified as B, was found submerged in a water park in Samsang-ri, Jangheung-myeon, Yangju.

Mr. B, who was in cardiac arrest, received first aid at the scene, recovered, and was reportedly transported to a hospital.

Police and fire authorities are investigating the exact circumstances of the accidents by questioning witnesses and others.
