Tropical nights have persisted across most of the country, with heat-related deaths continuing to be reported.

Our first report today (July 27) is by reporter Im Jihyeon.

Well past 10 p.m., the Han River Park is packed with citizens out for a stroll.

People dressed in light clothing all hold cold drinks in their hands.

Even as the river breeze keeps blowing, the thermometer reads 26°C (79°F).

With a tropical night advisory issued for Seoul entering its fourth day as of yesterday, no matter how wide windows are opened, the perceived temperature is even higher, leading many to spend sleepless nights.

Although the monsoon season has effectively ended as the country moved out of the influence of the stationary front, heatwaves and tropical nights are expected to continue in earnest.

Tropical night advisories have already been issued for most parts of the country, and severe heatwave warnings have even been issued for parts of Jeollanam-do and Gyeongsangnam-do.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency announced that from May 15 to yesterday, there were 1,301 heat-related illness patients nationwide, among whom six died, and during the same period, 255,876 livestock died due to the heatwave.
