A 100-year-old woman, identified as A, was found dead in a field in Bongdong-eup, Wanju-gun, Jeollabuk-do, at around 4:04 p.m. today (July 26).

When emergency responders arrived at the scene following a report from her family, A was reportedly already in a state of cardiac arrest.

Fire authorities stated that A's body temperature was 42.2°C (108°F) when she was discovered. The daytime high in Wanju-gun, which was under a heatwave advisory, reached 34.7°C (94°F) that day.

Police are currently investigating the exact cause of A's death.
