A man in his 40s who allegedly stabbed a merchant with a weapon at a traditional market in Muju-gun, Jeollabuk-do, and fled has been apprehended by the police.

The Muju Police Station announced that it is holding and investigating a man in his 40s, identified as A, on charges of special injury.

A is suspected of stabbing a merchant in his 60s, identified as B, with a weapon at a traditional market in Muju-eup at around 12:50 PM today and fleeing the scene.

B suffered injuries to the abdomen and other areas and was transported to a hospital. B's condition is reportedly not life-threatening.

After abandoning the weapon at the scene and fleeing, A was apprehended at a bus terminal about two hours after the crime.

A police official stated, "We are investigating the suspect regarding the specific motives and details of the crime," adding, "We plan to review whether to apply for an arrest warrant once the investigation is concluded."
