The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 25th (local time) that it hosted the Silicon Valley Venture Investment Meetup in Silicon Valley, San Francisco, U.S.

Chaired by President Lee Jae-myung and attended by major venture capitalists (VCs) from Silicon Valley, the event marked the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for investment cooperation between the National Pension Service and six Silicon Valley VCs.

Taking this opportunity, the participating institutions agreed to expand cooperation with South Korea's innovation ecosystem while joining forces to discover promising innovative companies and global investment opportunities.

In the subsequent roundtable, discussions were held on ▲ global and Silicon Valley venture investment trends and promising investment sectors, ▲ investment cases and decision-making factors for South Korean startups, ▲ differences between the South Korean and U.S. venture investment environments and bottlenecks in the investment process, and ▲ measures to strengthen venture ecosystem cooperation.

The event brought together Silicon Valley VCs managing a total of 300 billion dollars in assets, including Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, Khosla Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, New Enterprise Associates, and Sequoia Capital.

Noh Yong-seok, First Vice Minister of SMEs and Startups, stated, "We will foster a venture and startup environment that meets international standards while supporting our startups in successfully expanding into overseas markets."
