As the monsoon season reaches its final stage, relentless heat is sweeping through both day and night.

Severe heat will persist in many places again today.

For the first time in two weeks since July 12, a severe heat wave warning has been reissued for the Yeongnam region.

A severe heat wave warning is the highest-level heat advisory, issued when the daily maximum temperature is expected to reach 39°C (102°F) or higher, or the daily perceived temperature is expected to reach 38°C (100°F) or higher.

Centered around the Yeongnam region, where the severe heat wave warning is currently in effect today, Gimhae is expected to reach a daytime high of 39°C (102°F) with a perceived temperature soaring up to 38°C (100°F).

Seoul will also be sweltering with a perceived temperature of 35°C (95°F).

Intense heat with no relief during day and night will continue for the time being.

As the risk of heat-related illnesses is high, you must take care of your health by drinking water frequently.

Due to severe atmospheric instability, sudden and thundery showers are expected in parts of the central region, Jeonbuk, Gyeongbuk, and Jeju until this evening.

Be sure to carry a small umbrella when heading out.

The sunlight will be strong during the day.

The ultraviolet index will rise to very high levels in many areas today.

Under this level of sunlight, skin burns can occur within just tens of minutes.

When going out, you should pay close attention to UV protection by wearing long sleeves or using a parasol.

Rain is forecasted for the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon region on Monday.
