A motorcycle rider in his 60s has died after being struck by a drunk driver in Osan, Gyeonggi Province.

The Osan Police Station has arrested a man in his 20s, identified as A, at the scene on charges including dangerous driving resulting in death under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Crimes.

A is accused of driving a Sonata while under the influence of alcohol at around 6:10 a.m. today (July 26) on a road in Busan-dong, Osan, and rear-ending the motorcycle driven by a person in their 60s, identified as B, who was waiting at a traffic light, resulting in B's death.

Additionally, the impact sent the motorcycle careening into a Carnival vehicle waiting ahead, causing minor injuries to the Carnival driver, also in their 60s.

A fire subsequently broke out from the motorcycle, completely destroying both the motorcycle and the Sonata passenger car.

Police investigations revealed that A's blood alcohol concentration at the time of the accident was well above the legal limit for license revocation.

Police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the crash once A is sober enough to provide a coherent statement, and are considering seeking an arrest warrant for A.
