Major foreign media outlets reported that a car plowed into a crowd of hundreds of thousands at an LGBTQ+ event in Berlin, Germany, on the 25th (local time), leaving at least 1 person dead and 14 others injured.

According to police, at around 10 p.m. that day, a white van entered Berlin's Tiergarten Park near the route where participants of the Christopher Street Day (CSD) event had marched, struck several people, and then collided with a tree.

Some of the injured are in critical condition with severe injuries.

The injured are receiving treatment from emergency rescue workers dispatched to the scene.

The exact motive for the crime and the identity of the suspect have not yet been confirmed, and police are currently tracking down the suspect.

Berlin police spokesperson Florian Nath said in a video posted on the Berlin police X (formerly Twitter) account, "We are conducting an intensive search to find the prime suspects."

The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled.

Police told AFP that a vehicle suspected of being involved in the incident was found abandoned.

Following the accident, police and organizers completely canceled the event for safety reasons.

Police urged participants to immediately leave the venue and return home, while fully cordoning off the area where the casualties occurred.
