A teenage male who allegedly attacked a female high school student with a weapon in a residential area of Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, has been arrested.

Judge Oh Hana of the Seoul Southern District Court issued an arrest warrant after conducting a pre-trial suspect interrogation at 3:00 PM today (the 25th) for a male surnamed Hong, who faces charges of attempted murder, citing risks of evidence destruction and flight.

Hong, a high school student, is accused of attacking the teenage female with a weapon in a multi-family housing area in Hwagok-dong at around 1:30 PM the day before yesterday.

The victim, who suffered injuries to her abdomen, was transported to a hospital while conscious and received treatment.

It was reported that Hong and the victim were acquaintances.

Having secured custody of Hong, the police plan to investigate the specific circumstances of the incident.
