Today, which marks both the weekend and Jungbok (one of the three traditional hottest days of the year), brought intense heat.

The Yeongnam region, in particular, experienced extreme heat that surpassed human body temperature.

This severe heat is driven by the strong influence of the North Pacific high-pressure system.

Today (the 25th), the daytime temperature in Yangsan soared to 39.1°C (102°F), marking the highest temperature of this summer, while other parts of the Yeongnam and Jeonnam regions saw temperatures rise to around 35°C (95°F).

Tomorrow, centered around various parts of the Yeongnam region where heavy heat wave warnings remain in effect, sensible temperatures are expected to soar to between 38°C (100°F) and 39°C (102°F) or higher.

Residents are advised to refrain from outdoor activities and take special care of their health.

Showers are forecasted for tomorrow in the central regions, Jeonbuk, Gyeongbuk, and Jeju.

Expected rainfall amounts range from 5 to up to 50 millimeters.

Tropical nights are also expected in various areas overnight tonight.

Tomorrow morning's lowest temperature is expected to be 26°C (79°F) in Seoul, while tomorrow's daytime temperatures will rise to 37°C (99°F) in Daegu and 35°C (95°F) in Gwangju.

Showery rain will continue through coming Monday due to the influence of a stationary front, after which full-scale stifling heat will grip the entire country.
