Scorching heat continued across most parts of the country today, Saturday (July 25), with heat wave alerts in effect nationwide and perceived temperatures ranging between 29°C and 38°C.

As of 3:00 PM, the "Severe Heat Wave Warning," the highest-tier heat alert newly introduced this year, has been issued for parts of Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province; Gwangyang, South Jeolla Province; Goryeong and Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province; Dalseong County in Daegu; and parts of Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province.

These areas are classified as locations where life-threatening heat is expected, with maximum perceived temperatures exceeding 38°C or peak temperatures surpassing 39°C under heat wave warning criteria.

As of 3:00 PM today, peak perceived temperatures reached 38°C in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province; 37.4°C in Gwangyang, South Jeolla Province; 37.2°C in Gigye-myeon, Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province; and 37.1°C in Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province.

The Korea Meteorological Administration advised the public to take special precautions for health management, forecasting that maximum perceived temperatures will remain at or above 33°C for the time being, and exceeding 35°C in parts of southern Gyeonggi Province, Gangwon Yeongdong, South Chungcheong Province, the Jeolla provinces, the Gyeongsang provinces, and Jeju Island.
