Extreme heat is rampant today (the 25th), which marks Jungbok (one of the traditional dog days of summer).

Heat wave advisories are in effect across most parts of the country, while severe heat wave warnings—the highest tier—have been issued for areas including Pohang, Daegu, Gyeongju, and Gwangyang.

Among these regions, daytime high temperatures are expected to soar up to 38°C (100°F) in Gyeongju, and perceived temperatures may feel even higher.

You must immediately halt outdoor activities and take sufficient rest indoors equipped with air conditioning.

Monsoon rain will intermittently continue in the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon Province today.

While it will often experience lulls, the rain may come with sudden gusts of wind and lightning, and showers are expected to pass through areas south of Chungcheong until tonight.

Looking at daytime temperatures in other regions, Cheongju and Gwangju will climb even higher to 35°C (95°F).

Tomorrow, Sunday, final monsoon rain is expected in the central region and North Gyeongsang Province, while Monday will bring the tail end of the monsoon rain to the Seoul metropolitan area and Gangwon Province.
