The People Power Party (PPP) launched an offensive against Justice Minister Jeong Seong-ho's offer to resign amid the Democratic Party's push to abolish supplementary investigation rights as a party platform, calling it "a signal of a lame duck administration for the Lee Jae-myung government."

PPP Leader Jang Dong-hyeon posted on his Facebook regarding Minister Jeong's resignation bid, writing, "It is the last conscience of someone who witnessed a crime scene," and adding, "This is a regime that fears only the hardcore fandom while having no fear of the public."

He went on to emphasize, "The dismantlement of the prosecution will inevitably lead to the dismantlement of the regime," warning, "At that time, nothing will be able to 'supplement' it."

Floor Leader Jeong Jeom-sik pointed out on Facebook, "The Democratic Party's adoption of the abolition of supplementary investigation rights as a party platform is 'the government's defeat and a complete victory for the ruling party's hardliners,'" adding, "Synthesizing Minister Jeong's resignation bid and the remarks made by the Vice Minister of Justice at the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, it has become clear that the government's intention lies in a cautious approach toward supplementary investigation rights."

He continued, "President Lee is failing to curb the ruling party's extreme theories on abolishing supplementary investigation rights, instead dragging his feet while walking on eggshells around the Democratic Party's hardliners," arguing, "This must be because he will need to borrow the strength of hardliner lawmakers in order to achieve the dismissal of indictments moving forward."

Regarding Minister Jeong, he evaluated, "I highly appreciate his attitude of maintaining responsibility and conviction as a minister," and stated, "Compared to Policy Chief Kim Yong-beom, who takes no responsibility after turning the KOSPI into a gambling den, or Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back, who pushes through the consolidation of military academies against public opinion without resolving suspicions regarding his own desertion, this is a responsible stance."

Senior Spokesperson Park Sung-hoon stated in a commentary, "If he truly cared about judicial justice, he should not cowardly throw away his resignation and wash his hands of the matter, but rather openly recommend the exercise of veto power to President Lee and fight to the end by putting his ministerial post on the line," criticizing it as "a political show of resignation devoid of both justification and conviction."

Five-term lawmaker Yoon Sang-hyun wrote on Facebook, "Why did you not try to persuade the public until the end and raise your voice to protect the rule of law?" and emphasized, "Please clearly state your position as the Minister of Justice regarding the controversies surrounding the dismissal of indictments targeting President Lee."

Five-term lawmaker Na Kyung-won wrote on Facebook, "President Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party prioritize calculating votes for the upcoming national convention and the cheers of their hardcore supporters over the lives and safety of the people, driving their reckless destruction of the judiciary. In the end, they will inevitably face judgment from the public at the cost of collapsing the constitutional order."
