Director Na Hong-jin's sci-fi film 'HOPE' has surpassed 3 million in audience numbers.

Distributor PlusM Entertainment announced that 'HOPE' exceeded 3 million moviegoers in the afternoon today (the 25th), marking its 11th day since release.

This is one day slower than director Yeon Sang-ho's zombie film 'Colony', which recorded the fastest pace to reach 3 million among this year's releases.

Since its release on the 15th, 'HOPE' has maintained its box office lead through yesterday, continuing its strong box office run.

It gathered audiences at the fastest pace this year, surpassing 1 million on its 3rd day and 2 million on its 5th day.

However, compared to last week when weekday attendance ranged from 200,000 to 300,000, this week's weekday audience numbers dropped to the 100,000 range, showing a slight slowdown in its box office momentum.

'HOPE' depicts the events that unfold when an unidentified extraterrestrial life form appears in Hopohang Port near the Demilitarized Zone.

This is director Na's first new project in 10 years since 'The Wailing' (2016), featuring actors such as Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, and Jung Ho-yeon performing intense action sequences.

Hollywood actors including Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, and Taylor Russell also joined the cast.
