Cheong Wa Dae announced that, taking the opportunity of the San Francisco AI Summit attended by President Lee Jae-myung and South Korean and U.S. AI companies, domestic firms and global big tech companies have agreed to pursue semiconductor cooperation totaling 950 billion dollars, equivalent to approximately 1,375 trillion won.

Kim Yong-beom, Chief of Policy at Cheong Wa Dae, introduced these achievements during a briefing held at the press center set up locally in San Francisco.

First, Samsung Electronics and Broadcom signed a memorandum of understanding for foundry cooperation to supply 200 billion dollars worth of advanced memory semiconductors and produce AI chips over the next five years.

In addition, SK decided to proceed with long-term supply cooperation for advanced memory semiconductors amounting to 750 billion dollars over the next five years with global big tech companies such as Nvidia.

Chief Kim also shared the results of discussions on AI data center cooperation outside of the semiconductor sector.

Domestic companies and global big tech companies decided to push for large-scale AI data center investment cooperation of about 5 GW and roughly 2 million GPUs (Graphics Processing Units).

SKT agreed with Nvidia on Nvidia's support for the construction and expansion of an AI data center with a capacity of up to 2 GW, along with the preferential allocation of the latest GPU Vera Rubin system, and decided to pursue investment and cooperation with Anthropic for a domestic GW-class AI data center project.

Naver signed a strategic investment agreement with Nvidia and decided to build a large-scale global AI factory totaling 10 billion dollars through an infrastructure supply contract with global investment firm Brookfield.

Regarding physical AI, the final area of the three mega projects, Hyundai Motor Group and Nvidia decided to jointly build a Robot Reference Platform—a standardized foundation to develop and validate AI robots—to support various robot developments by universities and startups, while announcing autonomous vehicle foundry plans with Waymo.

Samsung SDS and Anthropic signed a strategic partnership contract to jointly discover new AI markets and train AI engineers together.
