President Lee Jae-myung, currently visiting San Francisco, is holding a dinner with chief executive officers of global big tech companies at a local restaurant, according to Senior Presidential Spokesperson Kang Yu-jung in a written briefing.

Previously, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang visited South Korea last year and had a "chimaek" (chicken and beer) gathering with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Chung Euisun at a "Kganbu Chicken" restaurant.

Senior Spokesperson Kang explained that, just as they naturally built a bond during that previous gathering, this event was arranged with the intention of having an informal conversation while sharing local Californian food.

Attendees of the dinner include CEO Huang, Broadcom President and CEO Hock Tan, Microsoft Azure Hardware Corporate Vice President Rani Borkar, Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Chung Euisun, and Naver Board Chairman Lee Hae-jin.

The menu features fish and chips, calamari fritters, crab cakes, and clam chowder, accompanied by light beer, Senior Spokesperson Kang explained.

Senior Spokesperson Kang stated that the scene of global AI leaders rallying around President Lee at the dinner will imprint upon the world South Korea's elevated status as a core hub of the global AI supply chain, and emphasize South Korea's vision as an "indispensable nation" in AI.
