A worker in their 30s has died following a entrapment accident at a shipyard in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province.

At around 4:40 p.m. today (July 24), a report was received stating that a worker's head was caught in equipment at a shipyard in Bieung-dong, Gunsan.

The worker, identified as A, was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest and received treatment, but ultimately passed away.

Authorities found that A's head was caught in a steel structure while operating a lug attachment machine—equipment used at shipyards and heavy industry sites to secure large structures like ship blocks to crane hooks.

Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident and whether safety protocols and obligations were properly followed by questioning shipyard officials and others.
