A Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office investigator who fled overseas as he faced complaints over jeonse fraud and was later repatriated to South Korea has been arrested by the police.

Judge Kim Hong-seop, the senior judge dedicated to warrants at the Suwon District Court, issued an arrest warrant today (the 24th) after conducting a pretrial detention hearing for suspect A, stating that there is "concerns over fleeing."

A is suspected of failing to return deposits to tenants whose lease contracts expired starting in September of last year, while owning around 70 residential officetels and other properties in the Dongtan New Town area of Hwaseong.

The number of complaint cases compiled so far stands at 25, with total damages reaching 3 billion won.

Facing potential charges of jeonse fraud, A took a leave of absence from the prosecution last September and fled to the Philippines. He was arrested by local police at his hideout in Cebu last April, and was repatriated to South Korea on the 21st of this month, 10 months after fleeing.

The Hwaseong Dongtan Police Station plans to investigate A, who has now been arrested, regarding the specific details of the crime and whether there were any accomplices.
