Wall Street firms are continuously signing up for a paid service that allows them to receive U.S. President Donald Trump's social media posts faster than regular users.
According to the Wall Street Journal and Reuters, Trump Media & Technology Group, the operator of President Trump's Truth Social, will launch the Truth API service on August 1.
The service delivers posts to computers on a millisecond basis as soon as they are uploaded to Truth Social, enabling them to be utilized for automated trading.
While it does not show posts before they are made public to general users, it allows data to be secured much faster than humans checking posts through the app.
The subscription fee is 100,000 dollars per month, which is approximately 146 million won in Korean currency, and even with a long-term contract, it remains at around 88 million won per month.
Trump Media Group stated that it has signed contracts with at least five high-frequency trading firms so far.
On Wall Street, artificial intelligence and automated systems are already being used to analyze President Trump's posts and utilize them for stock and crude oil futures trading.
This is a method where algorithms capture market-moving words such as "Iran" or "ceasefire" and execute trades immediately.
In fact, it was analyzed that just last month, immediately after President Trump uploaded an Iran-related post, more than 2 million shares were traded within a minute, and over 20 energy and industrial stocks moved by more than 2 percent.
For high-frequency trading firms where profits are decided by a difference of a few milliseconds, how quickly they can secure President Trump's words has effectively become a key competitive edge.
However, controversies regarding fairness have also been raised over paying investors receiving the sitting president's statements more quickly.
Democratic Senator Mark Warner criticized that the president's position is being used to monetize market-moving information, which could undermine trust in the capital markets.
Trump Media Group countered that it is not providing posts in advance, but simply delivering the data the moment it is made public to the general public.
