Designer Park Si-young Directly Targets HYBE: "Is Targeting and Destroying a Kid Justice?"

Designer Park Si-young, well-known for designing posters for hit films such as "The King and the Clown," "The Face Reader," and "Mother," has launched a high-intensity critique against HYBE, following his previous harsh criticism dismissing NewJeans' 4th-anniversary debut content as "tacky."

On July 24, Park posted a long message on his social media, writing, "Oh, since we're on the topic, will this become an article too? I sincerely hope it does," and adding, "I find the behavior of HYBE, a conglomerate in the K-pop industry, disgusting."

He continued, "If you profit from a period of underage friends' lives under the guise of training, shouldn't you at least act like adults? If you're going to do business with kids and target kids, you should at least act like an adult." He went on with strong expressions: "Are you trying to discipline the entertainment industry by punishing them with law and money? I don't care about Min Hee-jin or Bang Si-hyuk, but what kind of realization of justice is it to target and destroy a single kid? There must be a limit. HYBE is disgusting."

Park also shared his thoughts on malicious comments. To the question, "What do you think when you see malicious comments or messages?" he replied, "I reflect on myself. Seeing that even such people hesitate at nothing in expressing themselves and are even diligent, it makes me think that as a creator, I should live by expressing and releasing my thoughts without hesitation."

Previously on the 22nd, Park also left remarks regarding the special film "2026 Summer of NewJeans" released by NewJeans for their 4th debut anniversary, calling it "tacky" and writing to the effect that "it feels like the era of 'Gayo Top Ten' sensibility, and people without talent just piggybacked and scooped up everything." He also poked fun at the content released with a four-member setup, saying, "What do you mean by four members of NewJeans? 'Attack' has been dropped from 'Attack on Titan'."

Although Park did not explicitly mention names, industry insiders interpret his posts over two consecutive days as remarks mindful of Danielle's situation, who is currently embroiled in an exclusive contract dispute with ADOR. Danielle is the only NewJeans member to have received an exclusive contract termination notice from ADOR, excluding her from team activities, and is currently undergoing legal disputes.

ADOR filed a damages lawsuit worth approximately 33.1 billion won against Danielle, her family, and former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin, claiming that Danielle unilaterally terminated her exclusive contract and suspended activities, causing losses to the company.

ADOR has been heavily raising the issue of a double contract, stating that while the other NewJeans members recognized that the contract was problematic and cooperated with resolution procedures, Danielle and her family did not even inform the company of the contract's conclusion.
