President Lee Jae-myung embarks on an 11-day, 7-night tour starting today (the 24th), making consecutive visits to San Francisco in the United States, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and Germany.

Arriving in San Francisco on the 24th local time, President Lee will meet with global big tech leaders, including NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei—famous for their respective AI models ChatGPT and Mythos—as well as Hock Tan, CEO of Broadcom, a leader in custom AI semiconductor design.

At the San Francisco AI Summit, these big tech heads will be joined by South Korean business group chiefs, including Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman Lee Jae-yong, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, and Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung, with various agreements slated to be signed between big tech companies and South Korean firms.

Previously, during a briefing on the tour on the 22nd, Chief Presidential Secretary for Policy Kim Yong-bum hinted at the possibility of announcing substantial large-scale contracts going beyond simple memorandums of understanding (MOUs), stating, "Meaningful investments such as strategic alliances and long-term contracts are likely to emerge."

From the 26th to the 29th, he will pay a state visit to Brazil at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

A summit with President Lula in the capital of Brasília and the South Korea-Brazil Business Roundtable (BRT) in São Paulo are scheduled.

President Lee will then hold summit talks with President José Antonio Kast in Santiago, Chile, on the 30th, and with President Javier Milei in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on the 31st.

Director of National Security Wi Sung-lac stated in a preliminary briefing, "We can expect the establishment of economic security partnerships with three major South American countries that are rich in resources," adding, "It is meaningful in expanding South Korea's diplomatic horizons to the Global South."

Toward the end of his tour on August 2nd, President Lee is scheduled to stop in Frankfurt, Germany, on his way back to hold a meeting with Korean residents overseas.
