The men's national football team, aiming for its fourth consecutive Asian Games title, will face difficult Middle Eastern opponents Qatar and Saudi Arabia in the group stage.

In the upcoming Asian Games men's football tournament, 15 teams are divided into four groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarterfinals. South Korea was placed in Group D, which is uniquely the only group with three competing teams.

While the team can save physical energy by playing one fewer match than other groups, complacency is out of the question as they will face Middle Eastern powerhouses Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The national team, pursuing its fourth straight championship, will be assembled in early September to begin intensive training.

Meanwhile, the women's national team, eyeing an Asian Games medal for the first time in eight years, is set to face North Korea in a historic inter-Korean showdown during the group stage.
