The group stage opponents have been finalized for the South Korean men's and women's national volleyball teams as they eye medals at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
The organizing committee for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games conducted the volleyball draw in Nagoya, Japan.
The men's national volleyball team has been placed in Group D alongside China, Taiwan, and the Philippines.
A total of 16 countries will compete in the men's tournament, divided into four groups of four teams each for the group stage.
The top two countries from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
Group A consists of Japan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, while Group B features Iran, Indonesia, Thailand, and Kyrgyzstan.
Group C includes Qatar, India, Vietnam, and Hong Kong.
The men's team won medals in 14 consecutive Asian Games from the 1966 Bangkok Games to the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games, but was eliminated in the round of 12 at the 2022 Hangzhou Games, failing to win a medal for the first time in 61 years.
The women's national volleyball team will compete in Group D with Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Qatar.
The women's tournament, featuring 14 countries, will be held with teams split into four groups of three to four nations for the group stage.
The first and second-place finishers in each group will move on to the quarterfinals.
Group A features Japan, Indonesia, and Nepal, while Group B includes China, Kazakhstan, and the Philippines.
Group C is comprised of Thailand, Taiwan, Kyrgyzstan, and Mongolia.
After winning the silver medal at the 2010 Guangzhou Games, the gold medal at the 2014 Incheon Games, and the bronze medal at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games, the women's team finished fifth at the 2022 Hangzhou Games.
However, they laid the groundwork for a rebound by winning the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Cup last month with a perfect record of seven wins.
