A teenage male has been apprehended by police for wielding a weapon against an acquaintance.

The Gangseo Police Station in Seoul announced today (July 23) that it has booked and is investigating a teenage male, identified as A, on charges of attempted murder.

A is suspected of attacking a teenage female with a weapon in a residential area in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, at around 1:20 PM today.

The victim, who suffered an injury to her abdomen, was transported to a hospital, and is reportedly not in life-threatening condition.

According to the police investigation, the two individuals were known to each other.

Police are currently investigating the specific circumstances of the incident, including the motive for the crime.
