A man in his 30s has been handed over to prosecutors in custody for habitually riding a delivery motorcycle without a license over several months by stealing another person's driver's license.
The Daejeon Jungbu Police Station announced that it has sent the man, referred to as A, to the prosecution under arrest on charges including violations of the Road Traffic Act.
A is accused of riding a motorcycle without a license approximately 1,700 times while working as a delivery worker in Daejeon and Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, from late last year until March of this year.
Police investigations revealed that A signed a contract with a delivery agency using another person's driver's license and operated the motorcycle without a valid license.
It was also reported that A was caught by police for driving without a license in January, leading to an arrest warrant being requested, but fled without attending the pre-trial detention hearing.
Police explained that after tracking A's whereabouts and confirming he was staying at an acquaintance's house in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, they approached him disguised as a delivery worker and apprehended him.
