Police have launched an investigation following a report that a group of female middle school students collectively assaulted a peer at a karaoke room in Busan.

According to the Busan Busanjin Police Station today (July 23), a report regarding an assault victim was received at a karaoke room in Busanjin-gu, Busan, at 8:00 PM on July 18.

At the time of the incident, 10 female students ranging from the 1st to 3rd years of middle school reportedly assaulted a 15-year-old middle school student, identified as A, for three hours from 5:00 PM that day.

The students identified as perpetrators are reported to have called A to the karaoke room and assaulted her because she had allegedly spoken ill of them.

Some of those who participated in the assault reportedly filmed the situation on video.

Student A sustained injuries around her eye and abdomen and is currently receiving inpatient treatment.

A police official stated, "After receiving the 112 report and dispatching officers, we took necessary measures such as interviewing the subjects, reviewing the video, and conducting post-incident management," adding, "We are investigating them on charges of joint assault, including physically attacking the victim and filming the video."
