Late on the night of the 21st in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, a drunk driver attempting to flee rammed into police cars, injuring four police officers. Police applied for an arrest warrant, but the prosecution rejected it on the grounds that there was no risk of flight.

Around 10:10 p.m. on a road in Yangchon-eup, Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province.

A white SUV speeds past, closely pursued by a police car with its siren blazing.

Responding to a report suspected of drunk driving, the police repeatedly ordered the driver to stop, but the driver chose to flee.

The late-night pursuit, which lasted for nearly 10 minutes, ended only after the SUV slammed into two police cars.

[Police Official: The drunk vehicle made a left turn right here. Our patrol car moved like this and stopped, and it smashed right into us.]

Even after the vehicle came to a stop, the resistance continued, and multiple police officers swarmed in to subdue the driver.

[Witness: There was a loud crashing sound. The driver was shouting loudly and kept physically struggling.]

Debris shattered from the impact is scattered across the road like this.

[Witness: (The police officer) seems to have seriously injured their wrist. Their wrist was almost bent backwards...]

During the vehicle collision, one police officer suffered a wrist fracture and three others sustained minor injuries.

The blood alcohol concentration of the SUV driver in their 40s at the time was confirmed to be at the level for license revocation.

Police applied for an arrest warrant on charges of special obstruction of official duties resulting in injury and drunk driving, but it was learned that the prosecution rejected it, stating there appeared to be no risk of flight or destruction of evidence.
